On October 9, 2026, the U.S. President has a full schedule that includes several key events. The day begins with executive time at 8:00 AM ET, which is closed to the press. This is followed by a Columbus Day celebration at 11:00 AM ET in the East Room, where pre-credentialed media will be allowed to cover the event.
In the afternoon, the President will participate in the swearing-in ceremony for the Secretary of Labor at 2:00 PM ET in the Oval Office, also closed to the press. This will be followed by two policy meetings, the first at 3:00 PM ET in the Oval Office and the second at 3:30 PM ET at the White House, both of which will not be open to media coverage.
The day concludes with the President delivering remarks at The OnCenter in Syracuse, New York, at 7:30 PM ET, where pre-credentialed media will again be permitted to attend. This event is expected to draw significant attention as it coincides with the national holiday.
