The U.S. Treasury successfully auctioned $39 billion in 10-year notes, achieving a high yield of 5.300%. This yield was slightly below the when-issued (WI) level of 5.317% at the time of the auction, indicating strong demand from investors willing to accept a lower yield than the market had suggested.

The auction demonstrated robust interest, with a bid-to-cover ratio of 2.77, surpassing the average of 2.54. Indirect bidders accounted for 80.34% of the issue, significantly higher than the average of 74.1%, while direct bidders made up 17.2%, slightly above the average of 17.0%. Dealers were left with only 2.54% of the notes, well below the average of 8.8%.

Overall, the auction was rated as strong, with a sizable stop-through of 1.7 basis points compared to the average of 0.3 basis points, reflecting healthy demand and limited dealer participation. In related market activity, U.S. yields were trading at session lows, with the two-year yield at 4.78%, the 10-year at 5.290%, and the 30-year at 5.670%. Meanwhile, U.S. stock indices faced downward pressure, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average declining by 0.69%.
