UK Inflation Rises in July Amid Mixed Market Conditions

UK headline inflation increased in July, surpassing estimates, which may influence the Bank of England's decision on interest rates later this year. The data indicates that core prices remained stable, suggesting persistent inflationary pressures in the economy. Following the release of this information, the British pound saw a slight uptick against the dollar, trading at 1.3547.

In the broader European market, inflation in the Euro area also showed a slight increase for July. However, European equities remained largely unchanged, reflecting a cautious sentiment among investors. US futures were similarly flat, with particular attention on technology stocks, especially in the semiconductor sector, as the market prepares for the trading day ahead.

Meanwhile, oil prices experienced a modest rise, with WTI crude oil up 0.8% to $85.60. The dollar weakened slightly in European trading, with the EUR/USD pair rising to 1.1600 and USD/JPY falling to 159.15. The decline in US Treasury yields, now at 4.696%, contributed to the softer dollar performance. Market participants continue to monitor ongoing tensions in the Middle East, which are influencing overall market sentiment.
