US Industrial Production Stagnates Amid Market Fluctuations

US industrial production remained unchanged at 0.0% in August, falling short of the expected 0.3% increase. This stagnation comes as inflation concerns persist, with Kansas City Federal Reserve President Esther George indicating that recent data suggests inflation is trending above 3%.

In the bond market, US 10-year yields rose by 6 basis points to reach 5.01%, nearing 19-year highs. The pressure on short-term yields has led to speculation about potential yield curve inversion if the Federal Reserve implements the anticipated 2-3 rate hikes. Meanwhile, the Bank of Japan conducted a foreign exchange rate check after the yen faced challenges against the US dollar, peaking at 158.05 before encountering resistance.

Despite the fluctuations in the bond market, gold prices increased by $41 to $4,381, while Bitcoin surged by 6% to $81,000, indicating a resilient demand amidst regulatory uncertainties. The Japanese stock market experienced gains following the Bank of Japan's recent rate hike, which was supported by a 7-2 vote suggesting a cautious approach to future rate adjustments.
