JPMorgan Predicts Bitcoin May Outperform Gold Amid ETF Hedging Changes

JPMorgan Chase & Co. has indicated that Bitcoin could receive more support than gold if the demand for hedging through exchange-traded funds (ETFs) diminishes. The bank's analysis highlights that short interest in Bitcoin, as represented by the IBIT index, remains close to yearly highs, suggesting a significant level of hedging activity in the cryptocurrency market.

In contrast, the put-to-call ratio for Bitcoin is currently higher than that of gold's ETF, GLD, indicating that investors are more actively hedging their positions in Bitcoin. JPMorgan suggests that if these hedges are unwound, Bitcoin may experience a stronger upward momentum compared to gold, potentially leading to increased investor interest and market support for the cryptocurrency.
