USDCAD Experiences Decline Amid Market Volatility

The USDCAD currency pair has been on a downward trend since reaching a peak last Wednesday, where it stalled near the high of October 9. This decline has continued for four consecutive days, with the price dropping approximately 265 pips from a high of 1.42984 to a low of 1.4033. The movement has been characterized by a series of broken technical levels, which have bolstered sellers' confidence in the market.

Today, the pair tested the 100-day moving average at 1.4040, attracting some buying interest. Although the price briefly dipped below this level, it was unable to sustain the break, allowing buyers to push the pair back above the moving average. This recovery offers a modest technical advantage for buyers, who now have a reference point for risk management. However, they face significant hurdles ahead, particularly the resistance level at 1.40566, a prior corrective low from September 23, and the broken 38.2% retracement level at 1.40818.

Sellers have maintained control of the market, and a renewed break below the 100-day moving average would shift focus back to today's low at 1.4033. If this low is breached, traders may look towards the 50% midpoint at 1.40149 and potentially the 1.3950 area, where the 61.8% retracement of the previous upward move is located. While buyers have made a modest recovery, the overall trend remains bearish, and they must demonstrate sustained strength to reclaim higher levels.
