XRP Rockets 20% Higher as Major Holders Acquire 300 Million Tokens in Days
Quick Summary
- XRP surged more than 20%, reaching $1.16 amid broader cryptocurrency market strength and positive regulatory signals from Washington.
- Large holders accumulated over 300 million XRP tokens within a 96-hour timeframe.
- Crypto markets saw more than $1.5 billion in short position liquidations, amplifying XRP’s upward momentum.
- XRP exchange-traded funds registered positive net inflows, with Bitwise and Franklin Templeton at the forefront.
- Technical analysts are monitoring the $1.20–$1.25 resistance zone as the critical level for continued upside.
Ripple’s XRP token experienced a powerful rally exceeding 20% during the latest session, advancing from approximately $1.00 to the $1.15–$1.25 territory. Daily trading activity exploded by 392.81%, reaching $4.22 billion and signaling heightened market engagement.

This upward movement coincided with a widespread recovery across digital assets. Bitcoin advanced 11%, momentarily reaching $71,500—its strongest level in nearly three months. The aggregate cryptocurrency market capitalization expanded 10.94% to $2.44 trillion.
A significant catalyst emerged from a White House cryptocurrency summit held on August 19. President Donald Trump urged Congressional action on the CLARITY Act, legislation designed to establish transparent guidelines for digital asset regulation. Ripple’s CEO Brad Garlinghouse participated in the discussions.
Simultaneously, the U.S. Treasury revealed intentions to expand long-term bond repurchase programs. Declining yields encouraged capital rotation into higher-risk assets, benefiting cryptocurrencies.
On August 18, the SEC unveiled a proposed framework titled “Regulation Crypto Assets.” This structure would permit qualified issuers to raise up to $5 million across four years and as much as $75 million within any 12-month window through token sales. The proposal remains under a 60-day public comment period.
Major Holders Tighten Market Supply
Blockchain analytics from Ali Charts revealed that large XRP holders purchased more than 300 million tokens across 96 hours. Total whale positions climbed toward 16.3 billion XRP.
Market analyst Ali Charts stated on X: “XRP WHALES GO CRAZY! More than 300 million $XRP have been scooped up by whales in just 96 hours.” This aggressive accumulation phase propelled XRP through multiple resistance barriers at $1.05, $1.10, and $1.15.
Additional intelligence from Santiment indicated that XRP Ledger addresses containing over 1 million tokens reached 2,038 on August 12, marking a multi-month peak.
Forced Liquidations Fuel Price Action
Leveraged cryptocurrency positions totaling over $1.5 billion faced liquidation throughout the rally. XRP perpetual futures open interest contracted while Net Position Delta showed improvement, indicators consistent with forced closure of bearish positions.
XRP exchange-traded funds contributed positively to market sentiment. Net capital inflows registered $2.35 million on August 19, with Bitwise contributing $1.19 million and Franklin Templeton adding $1.16 million. Combined ETF net assets crossed $1.01 billion.

Critical Price Zones to Monitor
XRP successfully recaptured its 50-day simple moving average positioned near $1.07. The 14-period Relative Strength Index registered 63.76, indicating bullish momentum while remaining below overbought territory.

The $1.20–$1.25 range now represents the primary resistance barrier. Classic pivot resistance level R2 appears near $1.25, while the 200-period exponential moving average tracks around $1.34. The Senate has scheduled a vote on the CLARITY Act for September 15.
