Arbitrum Becomes First Blockchain to Tokenize Over 7,000 Real-World Assets

Arbitrum One, an Ethereum layer-2 network, has achieved a significant milestone by hosting approximately 7,083 tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), making it the first blockchain to surpass the 7,000 RWA threshold. This rapid growth is notable, as the network only reached 3,000 RWAs in mid-August 2026, indicating a doubling of its asset count in just six weeks. The total distributed value of these RWAs is estimated at around $1.03 billion, with a 30-day transfer volume of $1.08 billion, highlighting active trading rather than stagnant holdings.

The surge in tokenized assets is largely driven by equities, with Reality contributing thousands of stock tokens to the ecosystem. Additionally, the asset mix includes tokenized Treasury bills, commodities, and private credit instruments. Notable players in this space include Franklin Templeton, a major asset manager with over a trillion dollars in assets, and Robinhood, a retail brokerage that bridges traditional finance with decentralized finance, signaling a maturation of the tokenized asset market.

Since 2024, the Arbitrum Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) has focused on attracting RWA issuers through initiatives like the Stable Treasury Endowment Program (STEP), which allocates ARB treasury funds into real-world assets. This strategy not only generates yield for the DAO but also enhances the liquidity and infrastructure necessary for RWA transactions. As a layer-2 rollup, Arbitrum offers lower transaction costs and higher throughput, making it an attractive option for frequent trading and settlement of RWAs, a feature that the Ethereum mainnet alone cannot provide.
