Crypto exchange Binance is investing $100 million in Circle and will extend its partnership with the company for another five years. The company told Incrypted.

As part of the partnership, Binance plans to expand USDC’s presence on its global platform. One of the key areas will be increasing access to the stablecoin in emerging markets.

The companies will also focus on use cases for USDC to access dollar liquidity, savings, and investments.

“This is a long-term strategic investment, not a short-term deal — a bet on regulated stablecoins and infrastructure that is becoming an important part of the new digital financial system,” Binance said.

In addition, the company noted that Circle is one of the industry’s trusted issuers, and it links trust in stablecoins to regulation, transparency, and real-world results. The $100 million investment and the five-year partnership extension are expected to support the further rollout of USDC on the Binance platform, the statement said.

The company also stressed the need to broaden access to the digital dollar, particularly for users who may only be able to access financial services via a smartphone.
