On September 14, Bitcoin reached a peak of $79,586, driven by increased expectations that the US Senate might pass comprehensive crypto regulations. However, by the next morning, the cryptocurrency's value had retreated significantly, reflecting a sharp reversal in sentiment regarding the proposed legislation.

The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act aims to clarify jurisdictional responsibilities between the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) concerning digital assets. Following a revised draft released by Senate Republicans, which included 126 changes requested by Democrats, the probability of the bill's passage surged from approximately 14% to nearly 30% in a single day. This optimism was short-lived, as the odds fell back to 18% amid concerns over the divided Senate and resistance from some state attorneys general and financial institutions.

The bill is set for a cloture vote on September 15, requiring 60 votes to advance. With Republicans holding 53 Senate seats, they need at least seven Democrats to support the bill, a challenging prospect given the growing opposition. Bitcoin's decline has also impacted the broader crypto market, with related equities like Coinbase experiencing similar downturns as traders reacted to the shifting legislative landscape.
