DBS Chief Investment Officer: Nvidia's valuation still low, AI stocks far from a bubble

PANews reported on October 5 that DBS Group Chief Investment Officer Hou Wey Fook said Nvidia's price-to-earnings ratio and its expected 70% earnings growth next year show that AI-driven tech stocks are still far from a bubble. Aggregated data shows Nvidia's current forward 12-month P/E ratio is 17x. Hou compared this with Cisco Systems' valuation of about 100x before the dot-com bubble burst. In a television interview, he said: "If you define the representative company in the AI space as Nvidia, and its current P/E ratio is only in the teens, how can you call this a bubble?" He added that there are still "tailwinds" in semiconductor and AI investment. However, Hou recommended a "barbell strategy" to "control overall portfolio volatility," allocating tech stocks on the growth side while pairing them with investment-grade fixed income assets to provide stable returns, and using hedge funds and gold as intermediate risk-diversification tools.
