DRW and Marex Complete First On-Chain Bond Index Swap on Canton Network
Trading firm DRW has successfully executed a total return swap with Marex on the Canton network, marking a significant milestone in on-chain financial transactions. This swap, which references the on-chain corporate bond benchmark from S&P Dow Jones Indices, was announced on October 13 by S&P Dow Jones Indices in collaboration with Kaiko.
The swap, provided by Marex with DRW as the counterparty, is linked to the iBoxx USD Liquid Investment Grade Index. This index tracks dollar-denominated investment-grade corporate bonds known for their liquidity. The structure of the swap allows both parties to gain exposure to the index without the need to hold the underlying bonds directly.
The transaction is designed to synchronize key events, such as valuations, throughout the duration of the contract. Future phases will focus on migrating margin, collateral, and contract payments to a unified infrastructure. Kaiko's tokens will facilitate this process by combining benchmark data with access permissions, ensuring authorized control of index values for valuation purposes. Don Wilson, founder and CEO of DRW, emphasized that this collaboration simplifies the transaction process and anticipates increased efficiency as cash and collateral flows are integrated.
