Federal Reserve to Hold Hearing on Artificial Intelligence Impact in November

The Federal Reserve will conduct a live hearing on the implications of artificial intelligence for the economy on November 16 in the San Francisco Bay Area. This announcement was made by Federal Reserve Chair Christopher Waller during the International Monetary Fund (IMF) annual meeting held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The hearing will be organized by the Federal Reserve's Productivity and Employment Special Working Group, which was established earlier this year. This group is tasked with conducting a comprehensive analysis of how artificial intelligence affects economic activity and the labor market. In June 2026, Waller formed five special working groups comprising external experts to explore critical areas related to monetary policy formulation.

Waller previously indicated that these working groups are expected to provide policy recommendations to the Federal Reserve by the end of this year. However, he did not address monetary policy or the economic outlook for the United States during this announcement.
