FT: Using Crypto to Receive Export Payments in Iran Has Become Completely NormalizedAccording to FT, under pressure from U.S. sanctions and financial blockades, Iran’s central bank has quietly eased foreign exchange controls in recent months, encouraging exporters to repatriate overseas funds through various methods, including crypto. Sources said businesses can now use USDT, BTC and other cryptocurrencies for cross-border settlement through Iranian crypto exchanges, with USDT being the most widely used. An executive at a government-linked company said, “Receiving export payments in crypto has now become completely normalized.” TRM Labs data shows that crypto transaction volume in Iran approached $ 10 billion in 2025. The Central Bank of Iran did not comment.
