IronWallet Launches MCP Integration for AI-Powered Self-Custodial Crypto Wallet Management
New York City, USA, September 24th, 2026, Chainwire
IronWallet MCP enables users to interact with self-custodial crypto wallets through AI agents while keeping private keys and seed phrases on the user’s device
IronWallet has launched IronWallet MCP, an integration that connects its self-custodial cryptocurrency wallet with the Model Context Protocol (MCP), allowing compatible AI agents to perform wallet operations through natural-language commands.
The integration is designed to let users interact with their crypto wallets through AI clients such as Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT Codex and other MCP-compatible applications without providing agents with access to private keys or seed phrases.
Users can issue commands such as checking a cryptocurrency balance, initiating a token swap or sending assets to a specified wallet address. For example, a user could ask an AI agent to swap ETH for USDC on Base or check a USDT balance on Ethereum.
According to IronWallet, the system is designed so that sensitive wallet credentials remain locally stored and encrypted on the user’s device rather than being transmitted to the AI agent or a third-party server.
Local Key Storage for Self-Custodial Wallets
A key component of IronWallet MCP is its approach to private-key management.
In some AI-enabled cryptocurrency wallet implementations, users may need to provide private keys, seed phrases or other credentials to an AI agent or an external application. This can create additional security considerations because sensitive information could potentially be exposed through application logs, compromised services or other attack vectors.
IronWallet MCP instead keeps wallet keys encrypted locally on the user’s device. The MCP server handles transaction signing locally, while the AI agent receives information about the requested operation and its result rather than the underlying wallet credentials.
The approach is intended to preserve the self-custodial model while allowing users to interact with their wallets through a conversational interface.
The company positions the system as an alternative to hardware wallets, which require physical access to a device and manual confirmation of transactions, while retaining local control over private keys.
Multichain Support Across 14 Networks
IronWallet MCP supports 14 blockchain networks, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, TRON, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Avalanche, TON, XRP, Dogecoin and Litecoin.
The multichain support allows users to access assets across different blockchain ecosystems through the same AI-assisted interface rather than configuring a separate wallet workflow for each network.
IronWallet said the MCP integration is designed to require no coding or SDK development from end users. The software can be installed on Windows, macOS and Linux, after which it can be connected to a compatible MCP client.
AI Agents and Crypto Transactions
The integration allows AI agents to interpret natural-language requests and invoke specific wallet functions through MCP.
For example, users can issue commands such as:
- “Swap $500 of ETH when the price reaches $2,300.”
- “Swap 0.01 ETH to USDC on Base.”
- “Send 100 USDT to my employment wallet.”
- “What’s my USDT balance on Ethereum?”
The agent interprets the request and calls the corresponding MCP function, such as execute_swap, send_transfer or get_balance.
IronWallet said transaction signing and execution take place locally, with the private keys remaining on the user’s device throughout the process.
The company said the goal is to reduce the operational complexity associated with cryptocurrency transactions by allowing users to interact with wallets through conversational commands instead of manually entering wallet addresses, selecting networks or navigating multiple transaction screens.
“We wanted to close the gap between what an AI agent can discuss in conversation and what it can actually do with a wallet. IronWallet MCP is our attempt to make managing crypto assets through AI as simple as an ordinary chat, without giving up the user’s control over their own funds,” the IronWallet team said.
AI and Self-Custody in Cryptocurrency
The launch comes as AI agents are increasingly being integrated with financial and blockchain applications, including portfolio management, trading interfaces and automated transaction workflows.
Connecting AI systems to cryptocurrency wallets introduces additional security considerations because agents may be capable of initiating financial transactions. Keeping signing credentials outside the AI model and maintaining local control over private keys are therefore central considerations for self-custodial AI wallet architectures.
IronWallet MCP is designed around this separation, with the AI agent responsible for interpreting user instructions while transaction signing remains within the local wallet environment.
About IronWallet MCP
IronWallet MCP is an AI integration for IronWallet’s self-custodial cryptocurrency wallet based on the Model Context Protocol. The system supports 14 blockchain networks and runs locally on Windows, macOS and Linux.
It is compatible with MCP-enabled applications including Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT Codex and other MCP clients.
