Qualcomm to Increase Chip Prices by Double Digits Starting September 1

Qualcomm has announced a significant price increase for its chips, set to take effect on September 1. The company informed customers in July that it could no longer absorb the rising costs from suppliers, leading to a double-digit hike in prices for chips shipped after this date.

CEO Cristiano Amon stated that the company is passing on the substantial cost increases it is experiencing. This price adjustment will affect Qualcomm's entire product line, which includes mobile chips supplied to various manufacturers, including Samsung.

In addition to the price increase, Qualcomm is facing a projected decline in revenue from Apple, which is expected to drop by about 50% from the September quarter to the December quarter. This decline is attributed to supply constraints that will reduce Qualcomm's component share in the upcoming iPhone 18 series, even as Apple continues to source modem chips for the iPhone 17 models while transitioning to its own developed modems.
