Samsung to Introduce USDC Transfers for Galaxy Users in the U.S. on Solana

Samsung has announced that starting from the last week of October, users of its Galaxy devices in the United States will be able to transfer USDC, a stablecoin, through Samsung Wallet and Samsung Pay. This new feature will be available to approximately 82 million Galaxy devices and is designed to facilitate cross-border remittances.

The integration of USDC transfers is built into Samsung Wallet, which will also provide fiat withdrawal and recharge options. Users will be able to send USDC to compatible external wallets, utilizing the infrastructure of the Solana blockchain and collaborating with the U.S.-licensed stablecoin custodian Bastion. While Samsung will not impose transfer fees, users should be aware that receiving wallets or exchanges may charge their own fees.

Additionally, the Samsung Wallet will support transfers to qualified bank accounts in over 60 countries, allowing recipients to receive funds in their local currency. The service will be hosted by Coinbase through Coinbase Prime, and Samsung has indicated plans to expand this offering to more markets, contingent on compliance with local regulatory requirements.
