Strategy Inc., the Bitcoin treasury company led by Michael Saylor, has surpassed JPMorgan Chase in trading volume, ranking as the 19th most-traded stock in the United States. Despite its significantly smaller market capitalization, which fluctuated between $38 billion and $50 billion, Strategy's stock, traded under the ticker MSTR on the Nasdaq, has seen substantial trading activity, regularly moving between 15 and 25 million shares daily, with peaks reaching nearly 49 million shares in August 2026.
JPMorgan, a major financial institution with a market value exceeding $950 billion, has been outpaced by Strategy's trading frenzy. The dollar value of MSTR's trading activity ranged from $1.5 billion to $3.9 billion, reflecting a stock that behaves more like a leveraged bet on Bitcoin than a traditional software company. This volatility is evident, with MSTR's 30-day historical volatility hitting around 64% in mid-2026, indicating sharp price movements that can amplify both gains and losses.
Strategy's business model involves accumulating Bitcoin, with over 845,000 BTC held at an estimated acquisition cost of more than $63 billion. The company has funded these purchases through stock issuance, raising over $5.6 billion through preferred share offerings. This strategy ties the company's performance closely to Bitcoin's price fluctuations, making it an attractive option for traders seeking cryptocurrency exposure through conventional brokerage accounts.
