Fairshake PAC Invests Over $52 Million in Ohio Senate Election Against Sherrod Brown

The Fairshake political action committee (PAC), primarily funded by cryptocurrency companies Coinbase and Ripple Labs, has invested $46.6 million through its affiliated organization, Defend American Jobs, in the Ohio Senate election. This funding is aimed at opposing former Congressman Sherrod Brown and supporting Republican incumbent Jon Husted. The expenditure exceeds Fairshake's initial plan of $30 million announced in September by more than 50%.

In addition to Fairshake's contributions, the Digital Freedom Fund, established by Gemini co-founders Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, reported approximately $3 million in advertising expenditures this week to further oppose Brown and support Husted. This brings the total media spending in the Ohio campaign to over $5.9 million, with early voting already underway for ten days as the U.S. elections approach in less than three weeks.

Sherrod Brown, who has a history of challenging Wall Street and large corporations, responded in an interview on Pod Save America, highlighting his long-standing opposition to the interests represented by Husted. Fairshake's spending in this election cycle has already surpassed $41 million for 2024, continuing its trend of supporting Republican candidates while opposing Brown, who has been critical of cryptocurrency regulations. Additionally, Fairshake has reported spending over $6.7 million in the Nebraska Senate election against independent candidate Dan Osborn.
