TRON's Stablecoin Market Cap Increases by $5 Billion in Three Months

TRON has seen a significant increase in its stablecoin market capitalization, adding approximately $4.8 billion over the past 90 days. This growth is primarily attributed to Tether's USDT, which has established TRON as a leading platform for dollar-denominated cryptocurrency transactions. By early September 2026, the supply of USDT on TRON surpassed $94 billion, marking an all-time high and solidifying its position as the most utilized network for USDT, outpacing Ethereum's supply of $78.7 billion.

As of the second quarter of 2026, TRON hosted around $87.9 billion in circulating USDT, creating a gap of over $9 billion compared to Ethereum. The cost-effectiveness of transactions on TRON's TRC-20 standard has attracted high-frequency remittance users, over-the-counter desks, and merchants, particularly in emerging markets, where transaction fees are significantly lower than those on Ethereum.

In the month leading up to mid-July 2026, TRON processed $681 billion in stablecoin transactions, averaging about $23 billion per day. This volume is largely driven by peer-to-peer transfers, merchant settlements, and cross-border remittances, rather than speculative trading. Despite a generally flat market for stablecoins in 2026, TRON's stablecoin supply has surged by an estimated $12 billion this year, indicating a sustained growth trend rather than a temporary spike.

TRON's dominance in the stablecoin market, which now accounts for approximately 28-29% of the global share, presents a shift in the competitive landscape. While Ethereum remains strong in decentralized finance (DeFi) and institutional infrastructure, TRON's appeal lies in its affordability and reliability. However, the network's heavy reliance on USDT poses risks, as any regulatory actions against Tether could significantly impact TRON's market position.
