White House: Trump to Announce South Korea's $200 Billion U.S. Energy Investment Plan

PANews, September 30 — A White House official revealed that U.S. President Trump is expected to announce on Wednesday afternoon in the Oval Office that South Korea plans to invest $200 billion in U.S. energy projects, including the construction of 8 nuclear power plants, investment in a power generation facility in Texas, and participation in the Alaska liquefied natural gas (LNG) export project. Earlier reports said South Korea planned to provide $54 billion in support for the Alaska LNG project. This $200 billion investment is the first batch of projects to receive support under last year's U.S.-South Korea trade agreement framework. Under the agreement, South Korea committed to investing $350 billion in the United States. The projects Trump is announcing this time involve new investment commitments. The South Korean government has not yet publicly confirmed the specific details of this announcement.
