Cryptocurrency Market Financing Reaches $1.114 Billion in September 2026

In September 2026, the cryptocurrency market experienced a significant increase in financing, totaling approximately $1.114 billion. This figure marks an 85% rise from the $602 million reported in August and a 9% increase compared to the $1.022 billion recorded in September 2025. The month saw 47 financing events, although the number of events decreased by 4.1% from August and 25.4% from the same month last year.

Infrastructure emerged as the leading sector for financing, with 14 events totaling around $263 million. Both centralized finance (CeFi) and decentralized finance (DeFi) sectors completed 11 financing events each, raising approximately $394 million and $369 million, respectively. Together, these three sectors accounted for about 92% of the disclosed financing amounts for the month.

The largest financing events included Polymarket, which secured $300 million, followed by Félix with $200 million and Jeeves with $110 million. These three transactions alone represented nearly 55% of the total financing for September. Additionally, Kraken received a $100 million investment from Nasdaq, contributing to the overall rebound in financing, primarily driven by a few large deals despite a decline in the total number of financing events.

September also saw a notable increase in real-world asset (RWA) financing, with 8 events disclosing amounts totaling approximately $52.75 million, a significant rise from just $14 million in August. The month recorded 11 merger and acquisition events, a 57.1% increase from August, with the tools and information services sector being the most active. Coinbase Ventures was the most active investment institution, participating in 6 financing events.
