Illinois agrees to delay 0.2% crypto tax by 6 months, still pending court approval
PANews reported on October 1, citing CoinDesk, that the state government of Illinois has reached an agreement with the Digital Chamber and the Illinois Blockchain Association to delay the 0.2% crypto tax, originally set to take effect on January 1, 2027, by six months to July 1, but the move still requires approval from a state circuit court judge.
If the extension is approved, both parties will suspend their request for an emergency injunction and continue litigating the tax law's compliance, enforceability, and whether it is unconstitutional.
