Dogecoin (DOGE) Signals Potential Reversal as Rare MACD Pattern Emerges
Key Takeaways
- The current price of $0.081 represents a significant on-chain cost basis where approximately 30 billion DOGE changed ownership
- Leveraged positions on Binance show liquidation zones at $0.077–$0.079 on the downside and $0.085–$0.089 on the upside
- Breaking through the $0.085–$0.089 resistance could trigger a rally toward $0.090
- Market probabilities suggest only a 4% likelihood of DOGE reaching $1 before January 2027
- Technical analyst Trader Tardigrade identified a bullish MACD crossover on the 2-week timeframe
The popular meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin is currently consolidating near the $0.081 mark, a price point that on-chain metrics indicate holds significant importance. The digital asset has experienced a 27% decline so far this year and remains substantially below its peak value of $0.74 reached in May 2021.

According to Ali Charts’ UTXO Realized Price Distribution (URPD) analysis, approximately 30 billion DOGE tokens have historically been exchanged at the current $0.081 price point. This concentration represents a significant accumulation zone for numerous market participants.
Maintaining price action above this threshold is essential for preserving the ongoing recovery attempt. Should DOGE fall beneath this support, attention would shift toward the $0.077–$0.079 range as the next potential floor.
Strategic Liquidation Levels Create Volatility Potential
Analysis of Binance’s DOGE/USD liquidation heatmap reveals substantial leveraged positions clustered on both sides of the market. Traders holding long positions face liquidation risk between $0.077 and $0.079, while short position liquidations are densely packed from $0.085 to $0.089.
This configuration creates conditions for rapid price movement in either direction. A downward move approaching $0.077 could trigger cascading long liquidations, intensifying bearish momentum. Conversely, breaking above the $0.085–$0.089 zone would force short sellers to cover their positions, potentially fueling a rally toward $0.090.
The URPD analysis additionally reveals significant supply accumulation near $0.177, although this level represents a longer-term consideration rather than an immediate price objective.
Market analyst Trader Tardigrade shared on X that Dogecoin’s 2-week Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator has generated a bullish crossover signal — the first occurrence after an extended period of bearish momentum. He emphasized that this indicator produces crosses infrequently on this timeframe, and historical precedent suggests such signals have preceded significant uptrend initiations.
The Road to $1 Remains Challenging
While certain technical indicators show encouraging signs, reaching the $1 milestone presents a formidable challenge. Throughout its entire trading history, DOGE has never surpassed $0.74. Achieving $1 from current levels around $0.08 would necessitate an increase exceeding 1,150%.
According to Kalshi prediction markets, traders are assigning just a 4% probability to DOGE reaching $1 by January 2027, with odds increasing slightly to 9% by June 2027. For perspective, market participants assign identical 4% odds to Bitcoin reaching $200,000 before year-end.
The launch of a Dogecoin ETF in the previous year and speculation surrounding potential Elon Musk-related developments have been discussed as possible growth catalysts. However, DOGE has yet to demonstrate sustained momentum toward these elevated price targets.
Dogecoin is presently trading at around $0.0818, with the crucial resistance zone of $0.085–$0.089 representing the next significant technical challenge ahead.
