Economic Data Releases and Central Bank Insights Expected Today

Today, the European session will feature the final Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) readings for major Eurozone economies and the United Kingdom. These final readings typically do not significantly impact the markets, as traders often react more to preliminary reports that provide new information. Additionally, Eurozone Producer Price Index (PPI) data will be released, although it is generally considered outdated and unlikely to influence market movements, especially since the European Central Bank (ECB) is more focused on Consumer Price Index (CPI) data. The ECB is widely anticipated to maintain its current interest rates during its October meeting, with market expectations indicating an 80% probability of this outcome.

In the American session, the highlight will be the US ISM Services PMI, which is projected to decrease slightly to 55.0 from 55.4 in the previous month. The earlier S&P Global PMIs indicated a surge in services to the highest level since 2021, driven by robust business growth and increasing job gains, although this has also led to heightened price pressures. The ISM data, while historically significant, has seen its market-moving potential diminish due to the earlier release of the S&P Global PMIs.

Central bank officials from the ECB will also be speaking throughout the morning, including members with varying stances on monetary policy. Notable speakers include ECB's Isabel Schnabel and Luis de Guindos, both of whom are considered hawkish voters, as well as neutral voters like Philip Lane and Joachim Nagel. Their comments may provide further insights into the ECB's future policy direction.
