Market Outlook for the Week of October 5-9, 2026

The upcoming week is expected to be relatively quiet in financial markets, following the recent Non-Farm Payroll (NFP) report. Key economic indicators will be released, starting with services Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) data for the Eurozone, the United Kingdom, and the United States on Monday. On Tuesday, Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda will address the National Securities Conference in Tokyo, while Australia will release its Westpac consumer sentiment report.

Midweek, Japan will publish its average cash earnings year-on-year and leading indicators. In the United States, attention will shift to the minutes from the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting, with unemployment claims figures set to be released on Thursday. The week will conclude with Canada reporting employment change data and the unemployment rate on Friday, alongside preliminary consumer sentiment and inflation expectations from the University of Michigan in the U.S.

In the U.S., the final services PMI is projected to remain steady at 58.7, while the ISM services PMI is expected to show a slight decline to 55.1. Analysts anticipate that September's services figures will still indicate expansion but with some moderation compared to the previous month. Recent regional Federal Reserve surveys suggest softer business conditions, and the employment component may reflect weaker job creation in service-providing sectors following the modest growth reported in September.
