Japan's August Inflation Rate Stands at 1.9% Year-on-Year

Japan's headline Consumer Price Index (CPI) for August recorded a year-on-year increase of 1.9%, falling short of the expected 2.0%. This figure matches the previous month's inflation rate, which also stood at 1.9%.

The core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, also showed a year-on-year increase of 1.7%, again below the anticipated 2.0%. The prior month's core CPI was reported at 1.8%.

These inflation figures come as the Bank of Japan (BoJ) is expected to consider a rate hike, with market speculation focusing on the timing and potential impact on the Japanese yen.
