New Zealand Reports Narrower Trade Deficit for August 2026

New Zealand's trade balance for August 2026 recorded a deficit of NZ$1,349 million, a decrease from the previous month's deficit of NZ$1,949 million. This improvement reflects a rise in exports, which totaled NZ$6.66 billion, while imports amounted to NZ$8.00 billion during the same period.

In addition to the trade figures, the country's Food Price Index saw a month-on-month increase of 0.3%, compared to a previous increase of 0.1%. This uptick in food prices may indicate changing consumer trends and economic conditions within New Zealand.
