Julius Baer Anticipates Final Federal Reserve Rate Hike in December

Julius Baer, a Swiss private banking group, forecasts that the U.S. Federal Reserve will implement one last 25 basis point interest rate hike in December 2026. This anticipated increase is expected to be followed by an extended period of monetary policy pause.

The bank's analysis highlights a cooling labor market in the United States, alongside significantly tighter financial conditions. These conditions are attributed more to rising long-term Treasury yields and a strengthening U.S. dollar than to the effects of increased short-term interest rates. December has emerged as the most probable timeframe for this final rate adjustment.
