Nasdaq and S&P Indices Show Modest Gains as Trading Week Concludes

The Nasdaq and S&P indices both recorded gains of approximately 0.45% as the trading week came to a close. The S&P index closed up 33.17 points at 7674.32, while the Nasdaq index rose by 113.29 points to finish at 26180.45. Despite these daily gains, both indices are positioned between key moving averages, with the S&P showing relative strength after reaching all-time highs in August, while the Nasdaq remains below its record high from early June.

Technical analysis indicates that the indices are below their 100-hour moving averages but above their 200-hour moving averages, creating a neutral bias for traders. A breach below the 200-hour moving average could signal a downward trend, while a move above the 100-hour moving average may shift the market sentiment to a more bullish outlook. The Dow Industrial Average also saw a significant increase, closing up 518.05 points at 53282.32, although it experienced a weekly decline of 0.85%.

In contrast, Bitcoin had a notable week, gaining over 23%, which positively impacted shares of Coinbase and Strategy, with increases of 25.61% and 28.17%, respectively. However, the week was marked by significant losses for several companies, particularly in the technology sector. Nebius led the declines with a drop of over 21% following a convertible debt offering, while other notable losers included Arm, Intel, and CrowdStrike, all experiencing double-digit declines. Walmart also fell over 10% after its earnings report, highlighting the broader market challenges.
