Key Highlights
- Q2 revenue climbed 32.7% annually to $341.9 million, surpassing analyst expectations of $328.67 million
- Adjusted earnings per share of $0.71 exceeded the $0.61 forecast, representing substantial growth from $0.41 last year

- Strong Buy consensus established; analyst average target price of $204 suggests approximately 60% upside potential
Shares of Semtech (SMTC) are experiencing significant gains following the company’s impressive fiscal second-quarter performance and forward guidance that substantially exceeded market expectations. The stock surged more than 10% during premarket hours, adding to its already remarkable 73% rally year-to-date.
Quarterly revenue reached $341.9 million, representing a 32.7% increase compared to the prior-year period and surpassing analyst consensus of $328.67 million. This performance marked the company’s tenth straight quarter of revenue expansion.
On the earnings front, adjusted EPS came in at $0.71, significantly outpacing the analyst forecast of $0.61 and showing substantial improvement from $0.41 recorded in the comparable quarter last year.
However, the forward-looking guidance stole the show. Management projects third-quarter revenue between $405 million and $415 million, dramatically exceeding Wall Street’s previous projection of approximately $359.9 million. The company’s adjusted EPS forecast of $1.02 to $1.08 also substantially topped the consensus estimate of $0.73.
The company’s data-center segment is emerging as a primary growth catalyst. Strong booking momentum and an all-time high backlog indicate sustained expansion in this critical business unit.
Wall Street Boosts Price Targets
Following the results, UBS analyst Timothy Arcuri increased his price objective to $230 from $225 while reaffirming a Buy rating. Arcuri highlighted the impressive 160%+ year-over-year expansion in data-center revenue and sustained strength in the LoRa product portfolio. His analysis suggests data-center revenue could surpass $200 million quarterly by the first quarter of fiscal 2028.
Scott Searle from Roth MKM elevated his target to $220 from $190, maintaining his Buy recommendation. Searle anticipates the data-center and LoRa divisions will deliver 120% year-over-year growth in Q3 and represent nearly 60% of overall revenue.
Benchmark retained its Buy stance with a $230 price objective. Needham maintained its Buy rating at $200, emphasizing growth momentum in Data Center and LoRa as primary catalysts supporting the enhanced outlook. Stifel continued its Buy rating with a $188 target.
Morgan Stanley Takes Measured Approach
Not all analysts share the same enthusiasm. Morgan Stanley analyst Joseph Moore increased his price target to $195 from $175 but maintained an Equal-Weight rating.
Moore recognized robust demand for the company’s optical solutions and accelerating data-center revenue momentum. His outlook identifies the upcoming growth wave emerging from active copper cable (ACC) products launching in Q4, along with expanded data-center opportunities extending through fiscal 2028.
UBS analysts additionally noted that data-center expansion should easily compensate for any revenue headwinds from the cellular module divestiture, while simultaneously driving margin improvement.
According to TipRanks, SMTC maintains a Strong Buy consensus rating supported by 11 Buy recommendations and one Hold.
The consensus price target stands at $204, implying approximately 60% additional upside from current trading levels. Accelerated FiberEdge qualification timelines are identified as a crucial near-term growth driver, with CopperEdge products presenting additional expansion opportunities as fiscal 2028 approaches.
