Trump Open to Meeting Iranian Official at UN General Assembly

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that he does not rule out the possibility of meeting with Iran's President Mohammad Pezeshkian during the upcoming United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York City, United States. Trump described himself as being in a 'deciding mode' regarding his next steps in relation to Iran, suggesting a potential shift in diplomatic engagement.

Diplomatic sources have revealed that Qatar plans to utilize the UNGA platform to discuss the resumption of talks between the United States and Iran. This comes amid ongoing tensions and a complex geopolitical landscape surrounding U.S.-Iran relations.

While there are discussions of potential meetings, UN Secretary-General António Guterres and various analysts have downplayed the likelihood of a significant breakthrough in U.S.-Iran relations during the assembly. Pezeshkian is scheduled to address the UNGA on Wednesday, where he is expected to advocate for Iran's right to self-defense.
