      U.S. 30-Year Fixed Mortgage Rates Reach 7.50%

The average rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage in the United States has surged to 7.50%, marking an increase of 53 basis points over the past four weeks and a significant rise of 108 basis points compared to the same period last year. This sharp uptick in mortgage rates is contributing to ongoing challenges in housing affordability across the country.

In addition to the 30-year fixed rates, the 15-year fixed mortgage rates have also climbed to 6.87%, while jumbo mortgage rates are reported at 7.49%. The elevated borrowing costs are exerting pressure on both housing affordability and mortgage demand, as potential homebuyers face higher monthly payments and increased financial strain.
