U.S. Dollar Weakens as Treasury Yields Decline, Nasdaq Faces Continued Pressure

The U.S. dollar has declined against most major currencies, with the Swiss franc showing the most significant gains. The Australian dollar, however, is an exception, experiencing a drop following a disappointing jobs report that revealed a loss of 39,300 jobs in September, contrary to expectations of a 20,000 increase. As a result, the unemployment rate in Australia stands at 4.7%.

Despite the retreat in Treasury yields, which are down across the curve, technology stocks remain under pressure. Nasdaq futures indicate another challenging opening after a sharp decline in the previous session, particularly affecting AI and chip stocks. The broader U.S. stock indices are mixed, with Dow futures up while S&P 500 and Nasdaq futures are down, reflecting ongoing caution among equity traders.

In the bond market, the decline in yields is contributing to the dollar's weakness, as lower U.S. yields diminish the appeal of holding dollars. The upcoming economic data releases, including producer prices and retail sales, are expected to provide further insights into inflation and consumer spending, which could influence market dynamics. Meanwhile, gold prices have rebounded alongside the weaker dollar, while oil prices have edged higher amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
