U.S. Considers Additional Oil Releases from Strategic Petroleum Reserve

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright has indicated that the government may initiate another round of crude oil loans from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). This consideration comes as rising oil prices and significant futures backwardation increase demand for crude oil barrels.

The Department of Energy has already loaned over 130 million barrels from a total of 172 million barrels authorized for drawdown in March. Currently, approximately 38.5 million barrels remain available for potential loans. This strategy aims to address market pressures and stabilize oil supply amidst fluctuating prices.
