U.S. Sanctions 17 Vessels Amid Iran's Halt on Oil Shipments

The U.S. Treasury has imposed sanctions on 17 vessels linked to the transportation of Iranian crude oil, petroleum products, and petrochemicals. This action comes as Iran has reportedly ceased both loading and unloading operations for crude oil tankers, a move attributed to the ongoing U.S. blockade and sanctions.

A Treasury official indicated that despite the sanctions, Iran is estimated to have around 20 million barrels of crude oil stored on vessels that remain outside the blockade of Iranian ports. This situation highlights the ongoing tensions between the U.S. and Iran regarding oil exports and international trade.
