USDCAD Experiences Volatility as Sellers Regain Control

The USDCAD currency pair reached a new high for the year on Friday, following a disappointing jobs report from Canada. The pair briefly surpassed the previous yearly high of 1.4292, but the upward momentum was short-lived, leading to a reversal by the end of the trading day. On Monday, the pair continued to decline, finding support at the 100- and 200-hour moving averages before experiencing a rebound that ultimately stalled below the previous high.

As of today, sellers have regained control, pushing the USDCAD down approximately 0.48%. This decline has positioned the Canadian dollar as the strongest performer against the US dollar. The current price has approached a swing area between 1.41922 and 1.4204, which has been defined by recent swing highs and lows. The pair has stalled near the upper boundary of this range, indicating a critical point for future trading activity.

For sellers to maintain their momentum, they must break below this swing area and remain there, which could open the door for further declines toward the next support zone between 1.41297 and 1.4153. Conversely, if buyers can defend this support area for a fourth consecutive test, attention may shift back to the moving averages near 1.4250, which would represent a significant hurdle for sellers. The outcome of this trading scenario will be pivotal in determining the direction of the USDCAD in the coming days.
