Zcash (ZEC) Could Hit $8,100 by 2030: Grayscale Research Unveils Bold Forecast Amid ETF Launch
Key Highlights
- Grayscale’s research team forecasts Zcash could surge to $8,100 if it secures 10% of Bitcoin’s market capitalization
- Even capturing just 2% of BTC’s market share could elevate ZEC beyond $1,622
- The investment firm’s inaugural spot Zcash ETF (ZCSH) debuted on NYSE Arca, recording $14.8M in first-day trading volume
- ZCSH finished its first trading session 1.54% lower at $63.10 despite climbing over 3.5% during intraday trading
- Futures open interest in ZEC declined 12% following the ETF debut, though buying momentum has since recovered
In a comprehensive analysis, Grayscale Research has made a compelling argument that Zcash (ZEC) remains significantly underpriced and could potentially rival Bitcoin’s market position within the coming five years.
According to Zach Pandl, Grayscale’s Head of Research, the privacy-centric cryptocurrency possesses substantial potential to compete directly with Bitcoin, primarily due to its advanced privacy capabilities. He emphasized the increasing need for financial confidentiality in an era of expanding AI-driven monitoring systems.
Pandl further referenced Zcash’s continuous evolution to address quantum computing vulnerabilities and its enhanced cross-blockchain interoperability as key factors supporting his optimistic outlook.
The cryptocurrency leverages “intents” technology, which according to Pandl, eliminates the requirement for extensive merchant acceptance. He characterized it as a “private asset hub with universal connectivity” accessible to both individual users and automated AI agents.
ZEC has surged approximately 70% in recent weeks and roughly 350% throughout the current year. Nevertheless, its market capitalization remains below 1% of Bitcoin’s total valuation.

According to Grayscale’s analytical framework, achieving a 2% market share relative to Bitcoin could propel ZEC beyond the $1,622 threshold. Should Zcash capture 10% of Bitcoin’s market capitalization over the next five years, the projection escalates to $8,100.
ZCSH: First U.S. Spot Zcash ETF Begins Trading
Grayscale made history on August 26 by introducing ZCSH on NYSE Arca, marking the first spot-based Zcash exchange-traded fund available in the United States. The product evolved from the previously established Grayscale Zcash Trust through conversion to a comprehensive ETF framework.
During its inaugural trading day, the ETF generated $14.8 million in transaction volume. After gaining more than 3.5% in early trading, the fund reversed course to finish the session down 1.54% at $63.10.
The ETF format provides investors with enhanced liquidity compared to the previous trust configuration, featuring share creation and redemption mechanisms. This structural advantage helps maintain tighter alignment between the fund’s trading price and the actual net asset value of the underlying holdings.
Market Response to ZEC ETF Introduction
ZEC was trading near $790 at press time, retreating approximately 7% following a robust weekly advance. The daily price fluctuated between $754.93 and $847.10.
Open interest in ZEC futures contracts contracted by 12% to $1.65 billion during the 24-hour period after the ETF introduction, with reductions observed on Binance, OKX, and Hyperliquid platforms. Nevertheless, purchasing activity in cryptocurrency derivatives markets has intensified in recent trading hours.
Market analyst Justin Spittler highlighted on X that $ZEC was demonstrating “one of the most bullish base breakouts in the entire market,” positioning it as a frontrunner among major liquid digital assets. While anticipating potential short-term volatility around the breakout zone, he maintained expectations for significantly higher price levels ahead.
ZEC trading activity moderated as market participants awaited PCE inflation figures and the approaching cryptocurrency options expiration date.
