Bitcoin Experiences Decline as Market Sentiment Shifts to Neutral
As of October 12, 2026, Bitcoin's trading range has narrowed to between $82,400 and $83,600, following a dip to approximately $80,337 on October 8. This decline marks a 3% decrease over the week, influenced by a cooling market sentiment reflected in the Crypto Fear and Greed Index, which has dropped to 56 from a peak of 82 in August.
The recent downturn is attributed to significant outflows from U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which experienced a net withdrawal of $484.9 million on October 7-8, the largest single-day outflow since June. Notably, BlackRock's IBIT ETF accounted for about $207.7 million of these redemptions, indicating a cautious stance among institutional investors.
Contributing to the market's volatility, the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield has risen to approximately 5.3%, while Brent crude oil prices have surged above $100 per barrel amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Despite these pressures, Bitcoin has managed to maintain levels above key moving averages, including the 50-week average at around $77,200, suggesting some resilience in the face of market challenges.
