1inch to Host Groundwork Forum in Washington, D.C. to Discuss DeFi Policy

1inch, a decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem and exchange aggregator, is set to co-host the Groundwork forum on October 16, 2026, at the National Union Building in Washington, D.C. This one-day event is part of DC Fintech Week and aims to facilitate discussions among students, professors, regulators, and DeFi developers about the future of DeFi policy and education.

The forum will feature a series of panels and roundtable discussions, with topics including the evolution of DeFi, smart contract security, and career opportunities in the sector. Notably, students will play an active role in moderating sessions, promoting engagement from the next generation of industry leaders. Key speakers include Orest Gavryliak, Chief Legal Officer of 1inch, along with representatives from Uniswap, Circle, and Robinhood Crypto, as well as faculty from prominent universities such as Columbia, NYU, Rutgers, and George Mason.

The Groundwork forum is an extension of the 1inch Forward initiative, launched earlier in 2026, which advocates for the inclusion of digital assets and blockchain education in U.S. business and law schools. This initiative gained traction following an open letter signed by over 20 DeFi projects and advocacy organizations, urging educational institutions to update their curricula to reflect the growing importance of digital finance.

Hosting the forum in Washington, D.C., during a week focused on fintech, underscores the organizers' intention to engage directly with policymakers amid ongoing regulatory discussions surrounding digital assets. The involvement of the Blockchain Association, a key advocacy group in the industry, further emphasizes the importance of this dialogue as the DeFi sector continues to evolve.
