CFTC Proposes New Cryptocurrency Regulations for White House Review

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has submitted a proposal for new cryptocurrency regulations to the White House for review, marking a significant step in the agency's efforts to establish a regulatory framework for digital assets. This move comes after a recent digital asset bill failed to advance in the U.S. Senate, highlighting the ongoing challenges in the legislative process surrounding cryptocurrency regulation.

The CFTC, which oversees futures and swaps markets, was initially designated to be the primary regulatory authority for the cryptocurrency sector under the proposed CLARITY Act. The new proposal aims to provide clearer guidelines for cryptocurrency asset trading and market operations. The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) confirmed that the proposal was accepted on Thursday, indicating a potential shift in the regulatory landscape for digital currencies in the United States.
