Coinbase Introduces Live Crypto Price Prediction Markets for US Users
Coinbase has launched live crypto price prediction markets for users in the United States, allowing them to speculate on the price movements of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ether within timeframes as short as 15 minutes. This new feature, which went live on October 6, 2026, enables users to make binary bets on whether the prices of selected assets will rise or fall, with each correct prediction yielding a payout of $1.
The prediction markets are integrated into the Coinbase platform, allowing users to trade alongside their existing cryptocurrency holdings. Users can select an asset, choose a timeframe, and decide on a price direction—up or down. Supported assets include Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Solana (SOL), and Binance Coin (BNB), among others. The contracts are funded using either USD or USDC, a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar.
This initiative is part of Coinbase's broader strategy to consolidate various trading products into a single platform, enhancing user engagement. The prediction markets are regulated through Coinbase Financial Markets, which is a member of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the National Futures Association (NFA). However, availability is limited, with some states, including Nevada, excluded from participation. The introduction of these markets marks a significant expansion of Coinbase's offerings, following its initial rollout of prediction markets covering sports and politics in late 2025.
