Meta and Sierra launch open standard for personal AI agents, with Stripe and Walmart participating
PANews, October 7 — According to Sierra's official blog, AI startup Sierra and Meta have jointly launched an open standard called the "Personal Agent Protocol" to standardize how personal AI agents interact with businesses. Founding partners also include Genesys, Instinct, Rocket, Shopify, Stripe, and Walmart. The protocol handles authentication based on the OAuth standard, allowing users to grant agents read or write access to their accounts, while businesses can independently decide which features to expose and view agent activity through websites, APIs, or their own agents. The v0.1 specification is scheduled for release later in October.
