Blast Network to Cease Operations as Coinbase Halts BLAST Token Trading

The Blast network, an Ethereum Layer-2 solution, is set to shut down due to unsustainable operational costs that have outstripped its revenue. Coinbase, a major cryptocurrency exchange, will suspend trading of the BLAST token on October 20, 2026, and users are advised to withdraw their assets by October 26, 2026.

Blast announced its decision to wind down operations on October 2, 2026, citing a significant decline in monthly revenue from a peak of approximately $3.5 million to as low as $1,793. The total value locked in the network has also plummeted from over $2 billion in June 2024 to an estimated $24-32 million today. Following the announcement, the BLAST token experienced a sharp decline, dropping nearly 47% immediately after the news broke, and is currently trading at around $0.00024.

In addition to Coinbase, other exchanges such as BTSE, Bitvavo, and Bybit have also announced the delisting or suspension of BLAST trading. Users are encouraged to withdraw their assets through the standard Blast interface before the October 26 deadline, after which they will need to interact directly with Blast’s bridge contracts on Ethereum to access their funds. This transition period includes a brief pause to facilitate the extraction of staked assets.
