Crypto Stocks Rally Despite Legislative Setback; Generac Surges on Amazon Deal

This week saw a mixed performance in the stock market, with crypto-linked equities experiencing a rally despite the failure of the CLARITY Act to advance in the U.S. Congress. Bitcoin rose by 5.5% to $80,588, contributing to gains in stocks such as Coinbase, which increased by 11.9% over the week, and Riot Platforms, which added 7.4%. Analyst Gautam Chhugani from Bernstein noted that the breakdown in negotiations over the ethics provision of the legislation means investors should focus on upcoming rule-making from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Generac Holdings Inc. was a standout performer, surging approximately 40% in after-hours trading on Wednesday and closing 18.3% higher in Thursday's session. This increase followed the announcement of a long-term supply agreement with Amazon for backup generators, valued at $2.4 billion for deliveries scheduled between 2027 and 2028. Jefferies analyst Tanner James praised the partnership, suggesting it significantly enhances the company's backlog and aligns interests between Generac and Amazon.

In contrast, J.B. Hunt Transport Services saw a decline of 13.3% on Wednesday and approximately 14% over the week after issuing an unusual intra-quarter earnings warning. The trucking company anticipates a 5% to 10% drop in earnings between the second and third quarters, citing higher costs despite positive freight market fundamentals. Meanwhile, Bank of America shares fell by 5.1% on Monday, with the bank's CEO indicating a weaker outlook for investment banking fees, projecting a decline of at least 10% compared to the previous year.
