Franklin Templeton Allocates 59.8% of Onchain Assets to BNB Chain

Franklin Templeton has significantly increased its investment in BNB Chain, now holding approximately $1.5 billion in tokenized fund shares, which constitutes 59.8% of its total onchain assets. This shift marks a notable preference for BNB Chain over other networks, as the firm manages assets across ten different blockchains.

As of mid-October 2026, Franklin Templeton's total onchain footprint is around $2.55 billion, with the majority now concentrated on BNB Chain. The firm's proprietary tokenization platform, Benji, facilitates the issuance of these tokenized fund shares, utilizing a public ledger for ownership tracking instead of traditional back-office databases. The Benji platform itself has seen total assets reach between $2.5 billion and $2.6 billion, with the BENJI token accounting for approximately $760 million of that total.

The Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Money Fund, represented by the BENJI token, has transitioned from its original launch on the Stellar blockchain in April 2021 to BNB Chain, following a partnership with Binance in September 2025. This transition has proven successful, as evidenced by a remarkable 1,200% increase in holdings on BNB Chain within a single month earlier this year. Additionally, a recent no-action letter from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) allows Franklin Templeton to utilize BENJI for cash management and collateral, enhancing its functionality as a financial tool.
