Hyperliquid CEO Discusses Future of AI in Finance at Token2049 Conference
At the Token2049 conference held in Singapore, Jeff Yan, CEO of Hyperliquid Labs, expressed concerns that the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and finance has become overly complex. He emphasized that AI Agents already possess superhuman capabilities, and this gap is expected to grow. Yan pointed out that there are no technical barriers preventing these Agents from interfacing with various systems' application programming interfaces (APIs).
However, Yan identified a significant obstacle to the widespread adoption of AI Agents: the existing financial systems do not treat data and value with the same level of abstraction. While data can be transmitted freely over the internet, the movement of funds still depends on traditional institutions for approval. He noted that compliance measures will continue to exist but will operate at a higher level than the internet and protocol layers, allowing for a more seamless integration of value transfer.
Looking ahead, Yan envisions a future where users can set high-level financial goals, and the role of financial systems will be to assist individuals in accumulating wealth and improving their quality of life. In this scenario, superintelligent Agents would translate these goals into actionable steps, provided that the underlying financial systems are open and accessible. This shift could enable Agents to fully demonstrate their potential within on-chain financial environments.
