World Liberty Financial Expands Payments Technology for Web2 Companies

World Liberty Financial, a digital asset firm backed by the Trump family, is shifting its focus from cryptocurrency trading infrastructure to the payments sector. The company plans to roll out its payments technology to large Web2 companies, targeting the disbursement of funds to drivers, contractors, and content creators. This initiative is centered around its USD1 stablecoin, which launched in March 2025 and has achieved a circulation of approximately $4 billion to $4.4 billion across the Ethereum and BNB Chain networks as of October 2026.

The foundation of this expansion is WLFI's AgentPay, a software development kit (SDK) introduced in March 2026. AgentPay allows artificial intelligence agents to autonomously manage USD1 transactions while ensuring that funds do not accumulate in a custodian's account before reaching recipients. Additionally, WLFI is developing World Swap, a foreign exchange and remittance platform aimed at reducing transaction fees by utilizing stablecoin infrastructure instead of traditional banking networks, which currently process around $7 trillion annually.

In terms of regulatory progress, USD1 received preliminary approval for a national trust bank charter from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in August 2026. This charter enables the issuance and custody of digital assets under federal oversight. Furthermore, on October 1, 2026, WLFI signed a memorandum of understanding with MOA Protocol to enhance USD1's capabilities in remittances and payments, with South Korea identified as a potential initial market for these services. The success of WLFI's payments initiative will depend on the actual integration of its technology with major platforms, allowing users to receive payments in USD1.
