Eric Trump Advocates for Tokenization as a Path to Financial Inclusion at Token2049

Eric Trump presented a vision of tokenization as a means to democratize finance during his keynote address at Token2049 in Singapore. He described the process of putting assets on a blockchain as philanthropic, arguing that it allows everyday investors to access elite assets such as real estate, art, and music. His remarks were made in the context of World Liberty Financial's (WLFI) ambitions to tokenize various asset classes, which he believes will reduce reliance on traditional banking systems.

Scheduled for October 7, 2026, from 2:00 to 2:40 PM, Trump's keynote titled "The Future of Finance, Built in America" will feature alongside Zach Witkoff, co-founder of WLFI. Tokenization, as explained by Trump, involves dividing assets into digital tokens on a blockchain, enabling micro-investments starting at $1,000. This approach aims to open up investment opportunities that were previously inaccessible to the average investor.

Token2049, taking place from October 7-8, 2026, at Marina Bay Sands, is fully sold out, with expectations of 25,000 attendees from 160 countries. The event features over 250 speakers and more than 500 exhibitors, including major firms like Nasdaq and BlackRock. As of late September 2025, the total value of tokenized real-world assets exceeded $38 billion, excluding stablecoins, highlighting the growing interest in this financial innovation.

WLFI's plans include tokenizing the Trump family's real estate portfolio and expanding into sectors such as oil and timber. The company's USD1 stablecoin is designed to support these tokenization efforts, acting as a settlement layer for on-chain asset trades. This model could provide retail investors with new opportunities for fractional ownership in asset classes that were once out of reach. However, the alignment of Trump's advocacy for tokenization with his family's financial interests raises questions about the motivations behind this narrative.
