Non-U.S. Investors Hold Record $24.32 Trillion in U.S. Stocks

In July 2026, non-U.S. investors held $24.32 trillion in U.S. stocks, marking the third highest level in history, according to financial newsletter The Kobeissi Letter. This figure reflects a significant increase in foreign investment in U.S. equities, which has risen by $2.22 trillion since the beginning of the year, representing a growth rate of 10%.

The newsletter highlighted that since the bear market of 2022, the total value of U.S. stocks held by foreign investors has surged by $12.3 trillion, equating to a remarkable growth rate of 103%. This trend indicates a strong recovery and renewed interest in U.S. markets from international investors.

Additionally, the allocation ratio of foreign capital to U.S. stocks has reached a record high, now accounting for 60% of their U.S. financial assets. This figure is approximately 6 percentage points higher than the peak observed during the internet bubble in 2000, underscoring a significant shift in investment strategies among non-U.S. investors.
